~Psalms 23:1-6~

The LORD is my Shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Amen.

The forgetful me!
9/26/2009 10:24:00 pm

How can forgetful can I be? LOL here's what happened today.
Was suppose to go to somerset station this morning. I usually took the green line and stop at Raffles place, then change to red line to somerset station! So as usual, I took the MRT from Jurong East station and waited for the train to reach Raffles Place. While waiting, I saw someone very familiar, I'm not sure if they're someone that I actually know. So when the MRT reached Raffles Place, I've no idea why but I just took the escalator up and got out of the Station. Then I came to a place that seems like a business area, with tall buildings! Then i was wondering how come "Somerset station" can led me here.. And i thought maybe i went through the wrong exit. So i walked back into the station, walked around the station, and even asked the security guard how to get to somerset! Then the guard answer me, " You must not be from Singapore, you coming here for holiday?" And I just simply answer "yeah" cause I was running out of time. And the guard answered, "you can take the red line and 3 stops from here before you reach Somerset" Then I recalled that I got down at Raffles Place! I greeted the guard, and quickly ran took the train to somerset.
LOL so funny whenever I thought about this.. :D

Anyway yesterday went for the last session of Gift Of Reading! Well very different from the usual session, and also my first time taking charge of a session! Aini said next year probably letting me taking over the class. I was stunt! Oh my, not even a year here and I'm gonna take over the class. But of course, the other volunteers are going to help me. :D
We had a new volunteer! And that's Caroline :D Was so happy that she's able to attend yesterday's session :D So I introduced her few of the stuffs that we normally do. Am really really great that she enjoyed the session yesterday, except for the first part when she thought quite boring. Then we went down to have a combined session and debrief! we had the lights closed and started on debrief. Quite interesting anyway. Throughout the debriefing Qi Wei was playing with me, I put the light sticks on my arm and when I flex my muscles, the light sticks just broke off! It was cool when we took a video of it. All you can see is the light sticks on my arm, then one moment it just broke of! :D hahahs

Remembered what Lujie once asked us, "what was your purpose of coming to gift of reading?" And now I've certainly found my answer. As from what I've learnt from today's service, GOD told us that Children are Important! Children are important to carry on the fruits of labor that our our ancestors had done! So Singapore couldn't possibly be with those kids who were weak, and grew up inexperienced! So we had to train the kids from young to improve on English, so that they can work for Singapore Next time! That's why I came for Gift Of Reading! :D

Yeah today went for History Field trip -- Old Fort Factory & Kranji Memorial sites :D
Was quite fun. Saw loads of interesting artefact's in Old Fort Factory and also got to know more about the surrender in Old Fort Factory.
Then headed to the Kranji memorial sites. Consists of State Cemetery and War memorial of the soldiers. We went to the state cemetery first. It was totally cool. Saw Yusof Bin Ishak's Grave and Benjamin Sheares's grave. That was cool! Gave my salute to them! They deserve it, for the sacrifices they have done to made what Singapore is now today :D
Then went to the Memorial of all those 4,200 soldiers who died protecting Singapore. The whole place is very cool, with nice scenery! :D
Totally awesome I would say! :D

School is alright, nothing much happen anyway. Just that I felt sleepy during Science and doze off a bit. Then suddenly Ms Lim asked me a question.... and I've no idea what she's asking about. So I was staring at her blankly. LOL!
After science ends, we're suppose to have HMT, but since Hu Lao Shi never come, Agnes go ask Yang Lao Shi to let us off at 1.30pm cause we have to eat for the CIP trip later. But who knows the meeting time had changed to 2pm, so we're quite lucky. :D
So headed for Kallang River. Once we reached the waterworks, we had a small lesson on the river and some Singapore' water fact. Then the fun comes. We went along the beach and pick up rubbish that we can see. Saw some dead fishes. There's this one time when there's a big and small dead fish. So I took my tong and threw the big fish slightly into the water and the same for the small fish. Who knows the small fish landed just on top of the big fish. LOL! Then Vindy came and saw it, and he thought the small fish was stuck to the big fish and so died together. lol so funny :D:D:D
Then went back to the waterworks under the bridge and had a debrief. And went back school. :D
I was so tired that i fell asleep after we got on the bus. :D

Learnt something new today. Gift of Reading served me another purpose now. Even though it's just interacting with kids and reading with them, behind it I learnt much more.
Today I was somewhat glad with the session. Last week, the whole senario was like insane, kids running out of control, no body is controling them, probably because nothing is occupying their free time. BUT, today's was better. And the reason is simple. Planning. I find it very important as because we planned what we're gonna do and the time line, the children are always with us and their pretty well occupied and less running around! :D

So Planning is important in everything. No matter what situation or projects that we're leading in, Planning is the key factor into whether it turns out successful or not.

Then I learnt another point here...

Improvise has always been taken for granted. We often lead an event without proper planning and thinking that it'll go well with improvising on the spot. But actually, it don't. The event will just look ugly. Improvise is only handy when we already had a plan, but at times some just don't go according to planned. So here comes improvising. Still we need a plan as guideline for our improvise.

Overnight Hike
9/06/2009 08:01:00 pm

WAH! The whole hike was totally insane! The whole distance was approximately more then 30KM. It was a fast paced, little rest hike.
We started from Jurong Community Library, hiked off towards KJE. Then hiked to Kranji, and into some forest. Man the forest is so dark that can hardly see our way through. The trek is so uneven, rocks and branches on the ground made the hike difficult. The vines were like guitar strings! No matter how you pull, it won't break! LOL. I almost fall because my leg was caught by the vines. Then out of the forest, we continue hiking towards NTU. We hiked to the top of NTU, and had lesson there. Clarence told me that their canteen is opened to everyone and we can eat there. Gotta try it our sometime! :D After an hour or so of lesson there, we hiked out of NTU to Jurong West. Then hiked to Gul way and towards Tuas. We hiked past the incineration plant. Man it was so cool! We hiked from Tuas Avenue 1 to Avenue 8! It was one whole stretch of expressway, a test of patience here. The whole stretch was just one long expressway and we hiked from one end to the other. Then our solo hike! I was in the last patrol so had to wait for the other patrol members went for their solo hike. I fell asleep while waiting. When I woke up, I found that it was going to be my turn soon. Stood up and exercise a bit. Then my turn, our solo hike is to walk along the canal towards the other end of the canal. Midway it started raining. so i quickly wore my new $69 Nike windbreaker and continued walking. After all of us done the solo walk, we hiked towards the Jurong park, just beside Boon Lay Interchange. It was 7.30am when we are dismissed at the Jurong Park!
The minute I reached home, took a shower and drop dead on my bed. I was so tired and my leg hurts alot now. Hope the pain will be gone after tonight's sleep! :D

LOL!
9/03/2009 08:47:00 pm

LOL saw something sooooo funny that I've never seen in my life. Today during recces, i was sitting beside vindy. And guess what he did... He bought a bowl of noodles, and a cup of soft drink. He said that the bowl of laksa is too hot, so he took ice cubes from his drink and dropped it inside the laksa. Then he stirred it around. So it became Laksa Ice.. LOL so hilarious! Still can remember last year he peed at the trees in our school! SO FUNNY! :DD:D:D:D
Sec ones/twos interview just ended, saw some potential figures. Benjamin is so funny. He presented in a very cute and funny voice, somehow like a 7 year old kid speaking. Everyone was laughing when he spoke through the mike.
I can't wait to see my junior councillors, and of course those sec 2s that will be joining us. Also sean's return to our batch.
I'll keep on praying.
